You brought Sal to life for us. Thanks for sharing. PS I was a PA for years and worked for several mad bosses like that solicitor 😂

As the next of kin for my mum, I was lucky. Her second husband, and his family took care of everything.

Great story, although a sad subject.

I can *see* and *hear* the solicitor. Bravo! And the game of “hot potato” with the phone made me guffaw. Your auntie sounds like she was a hoot, God rest her. Well done!

Sal sounds like she was a force of nature, and through your words, she remains just as vivid, just as cherished. This was a joy to read, even in its heartbreak.

I loved this. The mix of grief, ridiculousness, and unexpected tenderness felt so familiar. You managed to make me laugh out loud, and for my heart to ache, both at the same time.

I think we need to write a short play about the woman from the hospital securing the services of that solicitor. What do you think? It could be fun taking turns to come up with the dialogue!

Thanks for telling it the way you did!

Having recently done a similar thing, I can resonate with what you went through. Every drawer or box that was opened, was opened with immense trepidation. There were some surprises, I guess there always are, but we all have our own little secrets I guess.
